This is an overnight ride for the GSers via gravel roads through the Brindabella valley to KNP then Barnetts, Bramina, Boundary and Broken Cart trails to Blue Waterholes Camp Ground (Kosciuszko National Park).

KNP Tumut office map of the route through to Blue Waterholes can be seen here and a Google Map here.

This is a "back to basics" ride involving an overnight camp so bring your own food, water (creek water available) & camp gear.

Fires:  KNP requires campers to use fuel stoves for cooking there are no current open fire bans in place.

Weather:  This is an alpine region so temperatures can range from single figures at night to high 20's or even 30+oC at this time of year, so be prepared.  If it is inclement weather we will reassess, rather than ride the top entry section that can be mud.  Nearby Mt Selwyn weather forecast is here  http://www.bom.gov.au/nsw/forecasts/selwyn.shtml

We will return the following day, via Adaminaby for brunch and then Shannons Flat, Tharwa and home.  An alternate option is bitumen via Snowy Mtn Highway to Cooma and then the Monaro Hwy to Canberra for the time poor.

Blue Waterholes Camp Ground is located in a karst region of small limestone caves and gorges, such as nearby Clarke Gorge. Swimming is an option, albeit a cold one, so pack the swimmers and visit the historic Cooleman Homestead.

For the serious adventure rider then the OCR is a 40+ year classic.  Held every two years and requiring a minimum 200kms of dirt to a remote Australian location decided at the preceding OCR.  For 2016 this was Mungerannie, South Australia.

This rally is in a remote part of Australia with limited support of any kind.  Intending riders and motorcycle need to be well prepared, allow for contingencies and be flexible to evolving conditions.  Having plenty of cash will also help with accommodation a mix of 5 star bush camping or Pubs.

Recovery of people and motorcycles is expensive from the remote areas of Australia.  Otherwise plan on a reat ride.
