For the serious adventure rider then the OCR is a 40+ year classic.  Held every two years and requiring a minimum 200kms of dirt to a remote Australian location decided at the preceding OCR.  For 2016 this was Mungerannie, South Australia.

This rally is in a remote part of Australia with limited support of any kind.  Intending riders and motorcycle need to be well prepared, allow for contingencies and be flexible to evolving conditions.  Having plenty of cash will also help with accomodation a mix of 5star bush camping or Pubs.

    Local intel available from:

Recovery of people and motorcycles is expensive from the remote areas of Australia.  Otherwise plan on a reat ride.
