  • "GS Route" includes dirt road sections.
  • "TS Route" is tarred/sealed roads.

A five day ride, following the general course of the Murrumbidgee River from source to end. Planned to follow from near the source in the Fiery Ranges, in the Australian Alps, to finish at its confluence with the mighty Murray near Boundary Bend, Victoria. Each day's ride will allow for both GS & TS bikes.

Departure point will be the Coolemon Court (car park at the Woolies/McDonald's/Caltex servo end)

GS Route 

DAY 1: Canberra (Weston Creek) => Gundagai (207 km)  (Waypoint “B” marks the junction with Barnetts Rd & turn-off S to Long Plain Rd) – Includes excursion to Long Plain Rd & Murrumbidgee headwaters via Barnetts Road-Long Plain Road (way points shown only) (~ 60 km round trip)

DAY 2: Gundagai => Maude (431 km)

DAY 3: Maude => Swan Hill  (349 km)

DAY 4: Swan Hill => Lockhart   (389 km)

DAY 5: Lockhart => Canberra (via Brindabella-Tumut Road) (312 km)

TS Route

DAY 1:  Canberra (Weston Creek) => Gundagai (330 km)   [NOTE: VIA TUMBARUMBA, TUMUT, BRUNGLE]

DAY 2:  Gundagai -> Maude (436 km)

DAY 3:  Maude => Swan Hill  (310 km) 

DAY 4:  Swan Hill => Lockhart   (389 km)  [NOTE: SAME AS GS]

DAY 5:  Lockhart => Canberra  (312 km)

Swan Hill - The BIG4 caravan park below is adjacent to the town centre & the main pubs & other attractions (not least which is "The Giant Murray Cod"). The Federal & Commercial Hotels don't have accommodation; however the Traveller's Rest Motel is right behind the Commercial Hotel.
BIG4 Riverside Caravan Park - A range of cabins.
Various motels - this Google Maps link will display several motels in the vicinity of Swan Hill's town centre.

Commercial Hotel - 111 Green Street, 02-6920-5109 - rooms @ $25 - $45 p.p.
Lockhart Caravan Park - has 3 cabins (c/w linen) - 6 berth cabins @ $72/2-pers + $6 ea additional pers
Lockhart Motel - $70-$88

Finally, to make planning easier, anyone intending to go on the ride is asked to register their interest against either the GS or TS options.
